We are the bridge between the home and the classroom. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s performance at school, inside or outside of the classroom, let us know. We would be happy to meet with you any time. We are here to help your child succeed.
RUSD Counseling Belief Statements
All Secondary Counselors in the Rowland Unified School District hold the same beliefs about our students:
- All students have the right to a safe and supportive learning environment
- All students shall have access to a school counselor who actively advocates for their academic, career, and social emotional needs
- All students have the right to be heard and treated with respect and dignity
- All students deserve a school counselor who will collaborate with families, stakeholders, and who will provide community resources to meet students’ needs and assist in student development
- All students should be allowed to make mistakes; mistakes should not define a student

Who Is My Counselor
Starting with the 2025-26 school year, counselors will be assigned to a grade level.
So starting this school year, 3 counselors will watch over 9th and 11th graders and 3 counselors will watch over 10th and 12th graders.
Each counselor will be assigned to watch over students based on their last name. You can see the alphabetic breakdown below.
3 counselors will have 9th and 11th graders and 3 counselors will have 10th and 12th graders.
This will allow 3 counselors to focus on grades 9 and 3 counselors to focus on grades 12, the two grade levels that require the most attention and support.
Counselors will follow their students all 4 years of high school. A counselor who has 9th and 11th grades one year, will then have grades 10th and 12th the following year and follow their students.
This new configuration will allow us to reach 9th graders about transitioning to high school, learning course sequences, A-G requirements for UCs and CSUs, developing a 4-year plan, and administering aptitude tests.
This new configuration will also allow for counselors of seniors to focus on helping them with college application guidance and writing letters of recommendation.
