Dual Enrollment provides high school students the opportunity to take Mt. SAC college level courses for free! Some of the benefits of participating in the Dual Enrollment program include:

ENGL 1A

 

ENGL 1A  Freshman Composition

4 Units (Degree Applicable, CSU, UC, C-ID #: ENGL 100, ENGL 110)

Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENGL 68 (Preparation for College Writing) or Mt. SAC approval 

Course Date: In-person- Tuesdays/ Thursdays Time 3:15 PM-5:45 PM

 

Course Summary:

Develops effective expository writing skills and investigates the principles and methods of composition as applied to the research process and the writing of essays. Emphasizes critical reading of academic material. Students may only earn credit for one: AMLA 1A, ENGL 1A, or ENGL 1AM.

 

Class will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 22nd and scheduled to be in person at Rowland High School. This is subject to change based on COVID protocols.

 

Please be advised that if you have already completed or you are currently enrolled in AP English or IB English HL1/2, you are not eligible to enroll in this class. ENGL 1A will give you the exact same credits as the AP English Comp exam. UC/CSU will count AP English Language as English Composition as long as a student earns a 3, 4 or 5 on the exam.

POLI 1

 

POLI 1  Introduction to American Government and Politics

3 Units (Degree Applicable, CSU, UC, C-ID #: POLS 110)

Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENGL 1A (Pending Mt. SAC approval).

Course Date: In-person- Tuesdays/ Thursdays Time 3:15 PM-5:20 PM

 

Course Summary:

Principles and problems of government with particular emphasis on national government in the United States. This course satisfies the requirement for a course in the Constitution of the United States and the principles of State and local government as required by Title 5 of the California Administrative Code.

 

Class will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 22nd and scheduled to be in person at Rowland High School. This is subject to change based on COVID protocols.

 

Please be advised that if you are currently enrolled in AP GOV, you are not eligible to enroll in this class. POLI 1 will give you the exact same credits as the AP GOV exam. UC/CSU will count AP GOV as Intro. to American Government and Politics as long as a student earns a 3, 4 or 5 on the exam. Please note that students enrolled in POLI 1 will still be required to take the RHS Government class senior year in order to meet graduation requirements.
