Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment provides high school students the opportunity to take Mt. SAC college level courses for free! Some of the benefits of participating in the Dual Enrollment program include:


  • Accumulate college credits for free
  • Free access to Mt. SAC resources and services
  • Explore different careers, majors and interests
  • Get exposed to college expectations
  • Strengthen your academic performance
  • Graduate college on time

Dual enrollment classes are open to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. Keep reading to learn more on how to sign up.

 

 

Fall 2021

 

Rowland High School is offering two classes for the Mt SAC Dual Enrollment Program this Fall 2021!  Classes will begin on August 23rd and are scheduled to be online (Synchronous). If the format of the class changes, you will be notified.

 

 

Soc 101

 

SOC 1  Introduction to Sociology (Open to current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students)

3 Units (Degree Applicable, CSU, UC, C-ID #: SOCI 110)

Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENGL 68 (Preparation for College Writing) or Mt. SAC approval 

Online Class (Synchronous)

 

Course Summary: Systematic study of human relations and social structures emphasizing the interaction between personality, culture and society. Special consideration is given to an understanding of group behavior, personality formation, social organization, and social change.

ENGL 1A

 

 

ENGL 1A, Freshman Composition (Open to current 11th grade students ONLY)

4 Units (Degree Applicable, CSU, UC, C-ID #: ENGL 100, ENGL 110)

Prerequisite: ENGL 68 or AMLA 90 or appropriate placement/approval from Mt. SAC

Online Class (Synchronous)

 

Course Summary: Develops effective expository writing skills and investigates the principles and methods of composition as applied to the research process and the writing of essays. Emphasizes critical reading of academic material.

Rock

 

Rowland High School is offering Rock History and Appreciation through the Mt SAC Dual Enrollment Program this Summer!  The class will start on Monday, June 21st and is scheduled to be fully online (Asynchronous).

 

Course Summary: Historical survey of rock music from its beginnings in the early 1950s to the present. Rhythm & blues, rockabilly, the British Invasion, Motown, soul, folk rock, hard rock, punk, metal, and various alternative rock styles will be discussed. Personalities and musical styles will be related to the sociology of the time period being studied. 3 units (Degree Applicable, CSU, UC)
