Yearbook 2025-2026 Assignments

Sorry- I posted this assignment this morning but for some reason it did not go through... 

Create a flyer on canva with the following details- then add here and post to your social media. Tag our yearbook account.

All other students can pick up their yearbook on 5/28 from 2-4

The attached students are featured in the yearbook, but have not purchased one. Please fill out the sheets for your assigned students. Ken and Scarlett will divide the work. You can type it out and print your set in the library when you are ready or you can have Maddie/Haris make copies and divide amongst the students. 

Scarlett and Ken, 
Please divide this amongst all students and check off that it has been completed on the attached yearbook roster. Please have all delivered to classes by Thursday. 

Review the information below. 
I have included a screen shot of a spread that has just the right amount of copy for our experience level along with captions. 

Using this information as a guide practice writing your spread copy. 
Take a screen shot of your spread, place it on a google doc, 
and do two things

1) Pick one photo to write a strong caption about
2) Write your spread's story using the Who, What, When, Where, Why, How of it all. 

You will interview 1-2 members of yearbook during 4th period today. During this interview, you will use your phone to record the interview and you must upload the interview audio/video here. 

Use the yearbooks in the class to find ideas that stand out to you. 
You must include 5 ideas. Here are some things to look out for: 

Spread Layout 
MODs (mini ideas on a page) 
ACD ideas (coverage questions) 
Interrupter Ideas (fun pages) 

First, look at pages for your assigned spread to get ideas. 
Create a document and add ideas and photos to it for your spread idea.

If time permits,
you can look at other yearbooks pages for ideas that stand out that others might find useful. 

Please check your school email (except Maddie + Scarlett) for a link to become a helper for this fundraiser. 
You will need to send the link to at least 10 family members in your phone or email list. 

The goal is for us for each of us to sell at least 5 products. 
The fundraiser ends on Friday, but your texts and emails need to be shown by tomorrow.

Here is the project. You will do this with your phone or a camera if you have one.
Take photos and edit them in light room.

You can challenge yourself to be EVEN more creative by creating phrases that go along with our yearbook theme and capturing photos that could be used in the yearbook with these captions. 
(Extra Credit) 

You may work on this ALONE or you may work on it with someone from another department (cannot be from the same department)

You will present to class next week Thursday/Friday

Those assigned to copy will be in charge of completing this form for your group and share with each student. ALL are responsible for submitting individually. 

Hey Guys! 
In an effort to improve communication and provide ample amount of time to getting coverage we will have a monthly calendar with assignments. Please note this is only for sports... Right now ALL yearbook staff will be contributing to all areas of coverage. I appreciate your flexibility and commitment. 

If you are unable to attend your event- please comment on the assignment and provide the following information:

Date + Event
Who you are swapping with 
and what event you will now be covering. 

Even if you are doing someone the favor and swapping dates with them- please also note this on your end.

Our yearbook is a seasonal yearbook. It will flow chronologically from Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. 
We will need to know when clubs are most active to provide coverage during that season. 
Attached you will find clubs grouped together based on type (academic, career, service, vapa, leadership). 


Now that you have begun to interview your clubs please indicate the purpose of the club on the doc attached. Also indicate what needs to be covered- if you do not know or have not connected with your club- please connect with the club as soon as possible.

We are targeting businesses, but the end goal is to sell an ad. This can be to a group of friends, a club on campus, a family business. 

Don't be afraid to get creative with it :)

Select one of the clubs or fall sports you are assigned to (attached below) and design a page. There are no specific instructions other than practice on the platform and learn new tools. There are help videos on the website that could provide you with some guidance. 

You will have today, the weekend and Monday to create a spread design. It will be due before you enter class on Tuesday.

Consider creative headlines, layered text and layered photos for pop-outs,  try incorporating graphic elements. 
There is no specific color scheme or design element- just use this as an opportunity to showcase your abilities.

You do not necessarily need to include pictures on all parts of the spread but include photo holders, caption boxes, etc.

Every grading period you must contribute 12 hours to YB. 
This is any time spent outside of your normal class day. 

Sporting Event = 2 hours 
Every Monday Workday= Hourly (can earn up to 12 + per grading period) 
Lunch= 1 hour 
Classroom visits= 1 hour 
5 interviews= 1 hour 
Other events= hourly 

You have picked your assignment + also have been assigned additional groups to interview. 
Now it is time to prepare to go out and interview. You will interview 4-5 people over the next week. 
We will continue practicing tomorrow as well.

The following SPREADS are due by Friday. You will meet as a team again on Monday to discuss what is still needed to complete your spread. Please see the attached rubric for grading breakdown. You will be scored as a group for this specific deadline. 

Think big picture and how it relates to the overall theme:
1) What is our story?
2) What pictures do we need/ have that conveys this story? 
3) What copy info do we need (see spread planning) to complete this?

Spread: What Set your Summer Apart? 
2 photos from student's summer adventures: Amusement Parks, Beach Trips, Coffee date, College Trips etc. 

Be sure to get:
the student's name, grade level, and where they traveled. 

Spread: Getting Ready for the Year.

2 photos of how the programs on campus prepared for the new year (ASB, FALL SPORTS, Band, Cheer, Color Guard, Performing Arts SENIORS) 
These would be pictures of practices, bonding activities, leadership events, retreats, college trips

Be sure to get: 
Students name, grade and group how they prepared themselves for the upcoming year. 

Students can submit their photos directly from their phone using the QR Code attached or you can submit as well. 

Please make sure you turn in something here- either a picture of the two photos you collected, the name and grade of the people you collected from so we can cross reference.

Review the information here and the information found under helpful materials. 

Take turns trying different settings with different picture angles. 
Upload them into the drive (linked below), practice editing in (hoping adobe works on lab computers), and upload them to a google doc identifying what settings were used to take each photo and reflecting on which photos came out the best. 


Include at least 5 photos.

Please complete reflection and accuracy. 
Submit on Monday in the box. 

Decorate the camera and polaroid photo. 
This is an about you assignment- include your name but other than that- you have creative freedom. 
You will glue the picture to the bottom of the camera like in the photo attached.

Staffulty photos have been at an all time low these past few years. We want to make sure we get as many people in the yearbook as possible. Your task is to use persuasive techniques to convince your assigned staffulty member to take their yearbook picture. You will be assigned 5-6 staff members.

In addition, it is important that we practice how we speak with adults on campus. 
Create a discussion scenario with your table on how you might convince your staffulty member. 
Be ready to role play.
