English 10

All classwork will be posted in Google Classroom. Go to www.classroom.google.com or your Google Waffle to access work for your specific class period. 
 
Our first unit of the year will be out of our Savaas My Perspectives textbook (Unit 2: Outsiders and Outcasts). 
All grades will be posted on Aeries. Grades will be updated weekly. Anticipate 1-2 weeks for written assignments to be graded and posted in Aeries. 
 
Grades are divided into five categories: 
  1. Reading (30%): Reading Comprehension Questions, Quizzes, Tests, Close Reading, Annotations
  2. Writing (35%): Journals, Quickwrites, Outlines, and Essays (Explanatory, Analytical and Argumentative) 
  3. Language (10%): Grammar and Vocabulary
  4. Speaking and Listening (10%): Presentations, Discussions, Debates 
  5. Preparedness, Engagement, Participation (15%): A weekly score for engaging in class and being a productive classroom citizen while following Raider Goals. 
Practice (formative) work will be weighted 30%, while assessments will be weighted 70% and will have a much bigger impact on the overall grade.
