I graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2001 with a Bachelor Degree in English. Afterward, I attended Cal State Los Angeles to obtain my teaching credential. During my student teaching experience, I had the opportunity to teach at The Accelerated Charter School in Los Angeles. It was quite an experience with 7th and 8th graders; not only did I have to teach English/Language Arts skills, their program included being in charge of different sports activities – I was able to learn how to play ultimate frisbee and flag football – and taking the students on weekly field trips (Science Museum, Disneyland, Magic Mountain, etc.). I eventually went back to school to obtain my Master Degree in Education at Cal Poly Pomona.
I have been teaching at John A. Rowland High School since 2003. I have taught at every single grade level and currently teach English 10, English 12, and AP English Literature. As a teacher, I have been fortunate enough to see many of my students graduate and move forward in their lives - obtaining a job, attending college, graduating college and continuing their higher education, getting married, and even starting their own families! At RHS I am also the English Department Chair and am fortunate to work with an amazing group of English teachers.
