All classwork will be posted in Google Classroom. Click the link above, or go to www.classroom.google.com or your Google Waffle to access work for your specific class period. 
 
Our first unit of the year will be out of our Savaas My Perspectives textbook (Unit 1: Survival). 
 
Core texts we will read this year include: 
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
"The Seventh Man" by Haruki Murakami
The Odyssey by Homer 
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
"I Have a Dream" Speech by Martin Luther King Jr. 
"Letter from Birmingham Jail" by Martin Luther King Jr. 
and more! 
All grades will be posted on Aeries. Grades will be updated weekly. Anticipate 1-2 weeks for written assignments to be graded and posted in Aeries. 
 
Grades are divided into five categories: 
  1. Reading (30%): Reading Comprehension Questions, Quizzes, Tests, Close Reading, Annotations
  2. Writing (30%): Journals, Quickwrites, Outlines, and Essays (Explanatory, Analytical and Argumentative) 
  3. Language (15%): Grammar and Vocabulary
  4. Speaking and Listening (15%): Presentations, Discussions, Debates 
  5. Final Exam (10%) 
Practice (formative) work will be weighted 30%, while assessments will be weighted 70% and will have a much bigger impact on the overall grade.
