Welcome to Rowland High School, we're glad you're here! Rowland High School has established a name synonymous with academic excellence. The school has been named a California Distinguished School twice and holds a National Blue Ribbon citation from the U.S. Department of Education, an honor reserved for the best schools in the nation. We are also fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and are considered a model school by the Successful Practices Network.
What makes Rowland High School the best in the west is our focus on the three R's: rigor, relevance, and relationships. Highly motivated students, who seek the highest academic challenges, have the opportunity to participate in our Honors, Advanced Placement, or International Baccalaureate programs. Students who pass the externally assessed IB examinations receive the coveted IB Diploma recognized around the globe.
High expectations are set for every student and all students are encouraged to reach their highest potential. Our average combined SAT scores are consistently higher than those at the state and national levels. Our statewide assessment tests have consistently ranked us among the top comprehensive high schools in the state. In addition, an extraordinarily high number of our graduates are accepted to prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Cornell, and USC, and to many of the University of California and State University campuses.
The Rowland experience transcends a standard classroom education. Students are exposed to a wide range of disciplines and media to best prepare them for their future careers and advanced education. Emphasis is placed on making learning relevant to business and industry. In addition, when students enroll at Rowland, the school's uniquely qualified staff guide them in choosing a pathway of emphasis.
Many students opt to enroll in the Career Certification Program, which provides hands-on learning experiences in concert with classroom instruction, job shadowing activities, and internship and interaction with business professionals. After completion, students receive a Certificate of Completion Award with their high school diploma. The Career Certification Program is ideal for college-bound students who want to explore their career interests and sample the work environment within their chosen career pathway.
No matter how rigorous or relevant an academic program a school provides, children learn best when they have positive relationships in their lives. Rowland's diverse, multicultural student body joins together in a spirit of cooperation and camaraderie to create a unique and enjoyable learning environment. A wide range of clubs and activities give students opportunities to explore their interests and meet new friends.
An integral part of our mission is to provide a warm, nurturing campus where students feel safe and valued. Rowland's staff cares about and respects all students and is dedicated to creating and maintaining positive staff-student relationships.
