CLASS CONTENTThe I.B. Theatre Arts course concentrates on theatre of many cultures through the study of theatrical practices, theorists, performance and technical skills, history, and dramatic literature. Students will gain experience and knowledge of theatre through of as well as. The class consists of:Production –theatrical pieces for the classroom, the stage, and to tour. School plays, class assignments, and department/community service.Analysis –play texts and live production.Research and Application –historical, cultural, and practical aspects of theatre. Design, directing, playwriting, and essaysThe amount of time a student will need to spend in after school production and class work is determined by the requirements of IB. It is necessary that students complete all aspects of the curriculum and be prepared for all internal and external assessments. All students are given a complete copy of the IB content standards, course guidelines, and grading rubrics.OPTIONAL ACTIVITIESStudents may participate in the following activities after school for extra credit and to acquire CAR/CAS hours:Fall and Spring Plays (outside of class curriculum - when applicable)Comedy SportzDrama ClubThe amount of extra credit and process to receive it depends on the student’s choice of how to be involved. A list of dates for these activities is available from the department.
