Type a couple of paragraphs describing and analyzing an example of "cancel culture" or a modern day "witch hunt".  Do a google search and read about some people, a person, or thing that has been cancelled.  Choose 1-2. Give some context of the situation: Who or what is being cancelled, or who is the "witch hunt" going after? By whom? For what reason? What possible punishment may the accused face? Then, give your opinion and analysis of the situation. If you are doing an example of cancel culture, then do you believe it is a valid canceling? If you are doing a modern day "witch hunt", then is it actually a legal persecution or in fact an illegal, unjust persecution? You must have an original opinion and analysis of the situation. Submit your paragraphs to google classroom by the end of the period.

Patrick Henry Speech Analysis Practice Writing

Type up a practice introductory paragraph and one body paragraph about the speech. You are typing two paragraphs total.  Practice timing yourself - see what you can come up with in 30 minutes. There is no specific prompt - you can take any approach to the speech that you prefer.  If you need a prompt, then use one of these:
1. Analyze Henry's usage of language and argue whether or not the speech is adequately persuasive. 
2. How is Henry's use of language and rhetorical strategies emblematic of an 18th century mindset and consider whether the speech is still relevant today or not. 


When you cite passages refer to the paragraph number (there are only 7). Be sure to include an introduction, two-three literary topics, a thesis (your introductory paragraph should be 3-6 sentences in length), a topic sentence, evidence, commentary, and finish with a transition (Your body paragraph should be 8 or more sentences). 

I will share some of your paragraphs on Thursday - let me know if you want me to share yours!
