Take care of your STAR reading skill check. Go to your clever account, scroll down to the red tile that says Renaissance and click on it. Click on the yellow star that says reading. Select the ELA test and begin. It should only take you about 20-30 minutes. It is not for a grade, but you must take it and it is to check your reading skill level. This will be taken care of in class. 

Read, reread pages 142-145 and pages 146-161

Complete 20 notes on Romanticism from the slides 1-13 and pages 142-145. Record any of the information that you find most relevant, and read both documents entirely.

Finish your Cornell Notes, including the marginal questions and summary, on the video about Romanticism: Imagining Freedom

Type answers to the Analysis and Discussion questions 1-5 on page 664 and questions 1-2 on page 667 about the autobiographical perspective. 7 questions total.  It is in the small group section of the book but you will be doing this individually.  Do not copy the questions.  Submit to google classroom.

Write a couple of paragraphs about the film version of the play. You may consider the following questions: What did you think about the film? How was seeing it in film different than you imagine seeing it on stage? How was the acting, lighting, costuming, music, etc.? What differences between it and the play did you notice? How did it add to your understanding of the play? Turn this in before leaving for Thanksgiving Break.

Read pages 656-664

Type a couple of paragraphs describing and analyzing an example of "cancel culture" or a modern day "witch hunt".  Do a google search and read about some people, a person, or thing that has been cancelled.  Choose 1-2. Give some context of the situation: Who or what is being cancelled, or who is the "witch hunt" going after? By whom? For what reason? What possible punishment may the accused face? Then, give your opinion and analysis of the situation. If you are doing an example of cancel culture, then do you believe it is a valid canceling? If you are doing a modern day "witch hunt", then is it actually a legal persecution or in fact an illegal, unjust persecution? You must have an original opinion and analysis of the situation. Submit your paragraphs to google classroom by the end of the period.

Review Act 3 of The Crucible for the quiz

As a group answer the 4 analysis questions on page 608, the 3 analyze irony questions on page 610, and the 3 analyze logical fallacies questions on page 611.  Put your groups' responses on to one document, with everyone's name, and submit this to the google classroom.  Do not copy any of the questions. Use complete sentences and textual quotes/evidence.  In addition, you individually answer the close read questions in the margins of Act 4 by hand, in your book, with pen or pencil.

Have Act 3 of The Crucible read and be prepared to analyze it in groups.

Review all of Act 1, the 4 vocabulary words (licentious is the 4th word), the analyze the text and analyze craft and structure questions, and the pronoun information in order to prepare for the quiz on Act 1

Type up a practice introductory paragraph and one body paragraph about the speech. You are typing two paragraphs total.  Practice timing yourself - see what you can come up with in 30 minutes. There is no specific prompt - you can take any approach to the speech that you prefer.  If you need a prompt, then use one of these:
1. Analyze Henry's usage of language and argue whether or not the speech is adequately persuasive. 
2. How is Henry's use of language and rhetorical strategies emblematic of an 18th century mindset and consider whether the speech is still relevant today or not. 


When you cite passages refer to the paragraph number (there are only 7). Be sure to include an introduction, two-three literary topics, a thesis (your introductory paragraph should be 3-6 sentences in length), a topic sentence, evidence, commentary, and finish with a transition (Your body paragraph should be 8 or more sentences). 

I will share some of your paragraphs on Thursday - let me know if you want me to share yours!
