FINAL: World War II Project

You will give a 5 minute presentation with  a 5-10 slide visual image on how your topic was truly impactful on World War 2
* Your project will consist of the following 3 major parts and 5 sub parts:
1. Research Steps (Sourcing) – Research your topic and record sources and websites used. You MUST have 3 - 5 reliable sources (books, videos from reliable sources,  reliable websites, interviews, & etc). From your sources ONE source MUST be a primary source. These sources will be used to give evidence in supporting your claim about your topic with 3 reasons.
2. Visual & Slides – You will need to create a slide visual to present that consists of several slides at least one to introduce, to timeline (contextualize), to evaluate (corroboration & sourcing), to analyze (close read), and to connect modern history & events (contextualize & source).
Slide A: Introduce - Summary of your topic. Give your reasoning on WHY they impacted the war
Slide B: You will create a timeline of the topic based on the significance and impact it had on WWII and to modern world history.
10 events in the timeline
5 Pictures (printed or drawn)
Timelines can start and end in any point in history as long as the events are relevant and significant.
Events should contextualize what happened during the time period. (background)
Slide C: Analyze your primary source and state why this supports your topic in having an impact on World War II. Primary sources MUST come from well supported and reliable sources
Sources to pull from museums, memorials, government websites, news websites, & educational sites.
Primary sources can be letters, photos, videos, & etc as long as you can source (reliable) it correctly.
Slide D: Evaluate if your sources are reliable and support one another. Corroborate facts from different perspectives and mediums.
Ex: Confirm major events from Britanica (British Company) with an American textbook (Mcgraw-Hill texts)
Confirm facts or images by using different photos of the same event and using a different reliable source.
Slide E: Connection to modern news and history. Connect your topic to recent updates about your topic. Use modern news articles, sources, and current events to compare and contrast your topic to what we see today. Compare and contrast with clear evidence to modern media about your topic.
Connect to current wars or conflicts in the war (battles)
Connect to deaths, memorials, and museums to war heroes & important figures (people)
Compare topics to recent events that are similar OR may have lead to these events
Evaluate recent movies to groups, events, battles, and the holocaust to corroborate the realities of topic to film.

3. Presentation - You will need to plan a brief presentation to the class. In

your presentation you will share your slide and have written a presentation for each of the 5 parts of the slides and what you have learned about your topic.
As you present either in your slide or in your written, KEY Questions should be included to discuss your topic. See the section below on Key questions for the different types of categories.

4. Selection and dates of presentation will be the week of  May 23-27 & during the day of the final.

Think about the document's author, date, type (book, interview, news, etc) and tone when deciding whether it is primary or secondary.
6. After reading all three and completing the sourcing table, reflect on the sources by writing an argumentative reflection for the following prompt: Corroborate the three sources to answer our guiding question: To what extent were colonial soldiers’ experiences similar and different from European soldiers?

How have certain rights and amendments seemed misused or outdated for current issues? Use a news article to support the misuse of our rights. (see example)

2. Look at the most popular rights in the Bill of rights (usually 1st to 6th amendements) and consider if the issues of today misuse these rights.

EXAMPLE: Derek Chauvin says he will not testify at trial and testimony ends. In the article Chauvin who the officer who is on trial for the death of George Floyd says he did not want to testify or have his voice heard in court. He used his 5th amendment rights which did not help his case. Not saying anything is this case was probably Chauvin pleading gulity to what had happened with Floyd and he was sentenced to 10 years.
