Four Core Values
  • Scholarship: Students must meet or exceed the required cumulative GPA point average.
  • Service: Students must perform voluntary contributions to the school or community, without compensation, and with a positive, courteous, and enthusiastic spirit.
  • Leadership: Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, promoters of school activities, idea-contributors, dependable, and persons who exemplify positive attitudes about life.
  • Character: The student of good character upholds principles or morality and ethics, is cooperative, demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability, and shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others.

Membership Requirements

The National Honor Society has membership open only to ASB card holders in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade, and who have a cumulative total GPA of 3.5 weighted. An application must be turned in to be considered for membership. Membership is selective and based on a Faculty Council approval. But academics is not the only thing that is evaluated, as we look for qualities in leadership, service, and character. To become a part of this is a big accomplishment and honor. As a member of this club, you will grow stronger in the four values and gain experience in helping others and building leadership skills. There are membership drives twice a year per semester, and one induction ceremony in first semester for all the inductees. All members are required to attend monthly general meetings at lunch. In addition, the NHS constitution requires each member to partake in one individual project and one NHS sponsored event per semester that displays at least one of the four core values. There is a $20 fair share donation once you are inducted.
