Medical Core I and Medical Core II (Period 7)

Course Description

This course is for students who are or will be enrolled in a skills-specific ROP class and for those pursing a career requiring post-seconday education. Topics include socio-economic issues affecting health care in the United States, anatomy and physiology, pathologies of the various systms, job titles and changes in levels of responsibilities, basic and advanced medical terminology, and career planning. Intergrated throughout the course are career preparation standards, which include basic academic skills, communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving, safety, technology and other employment skills. This course assists with preparation for a career in the medical field and also articulates with Mt. San Antonio Colllege Medi 90-Medical Terminology Course.

Three hundred and sixty (360) classroom hours and one hundred and sixty-five (165) hours of community classroom for a total of five hundred and twenty-five (525) hours.
