Description

This course is designed to give students in law Enforcement occupations an overview and understanding  and hands-on experiences in this career pathway.  Included are an understanding of institutions and agencies within the Administration of Justice, criminal traffic, and juvenile proceedings, substance abuse, and emergency preparedness. Emphasized throughout the course is the importance of effective communication and interpersonal skills, personal and professional development, strong academic skills, problem solving, safety, and the use of technology. Students may train for a total of approximately 180 classroom instructional hours and may also have the opportunity to complete hands-on training in a community setting.

Suggested Topics: Crack Cocaine, Probation-Parole, Herion, Depression, Child Abuse, Teenage Suicide, Marijuana, Angel Dust (PCP), Juvenile Delinquency, History of Law Enforcement, Drug abuse.
 
Each Student is requaried to prepare a written report of not less than 5 typewritten pages on a topic related to the general course content. You may use any of the above topics or select a topic with Instructor approval. The research paper MUST
be typed, double spaced and presented in an accepted collegiate format. Include a title page, Table of contents, and a Bibliography.
 
Bibliography:
A bibliography page, ( include title, date of publication, author, publisher, and pages used for paper), is required demonstrating that you obtained yout research data from any 5  of the following:
        Books - Periodical - Interview - Pamphlet - Newspaper, ect.
You must sue a qoutation from each of these 5 research sources as supportive material in the body of your paper by footnoting the qoutation. (Include your source, the paper number and use qoutation marks to identify the quote).
 
The Five (5) Typwritten pages will not include the title page, table of contents, ot\r the bibliography. 
Margins no more than 1 inch (all sides) and type size no larger than 12 font, 
Times New Roman. 
 
The paper wil be graded on the basis of content (significant information, enough substance, and supporting data), organization (coherence), machanics (spelling, punctuation, sentence structure), and appearance.
 
The deadline for the submission of the research paper will be Dec 14th, 2015.
(Finals Week).
 
This research paper is essential to ensure that you receive the best possible grade in this class. It will be worth 500 grading points.
 
Failure to turn in this paper or failing to submit it in the required format will result in loss of credit as appropriate.
