Remarks on the Killing of Tom Robinson- Due by 9PM

(A Model of Kennedy's speech on MLK's death to the people of Minneapolis, MN)

Objective: You are an omniscient citizen of Maycomb out to bring peace to your town. In light of the events regarding Tom Robinson (and the blatant racism that has forever existed in Maycomb) write a speech to your town that will calm people who are upset, afraid, and angry; and perhaps provoke or inspire some to do better.

Content Requirements:
1. Write as if you are giving a speech and address the town (consider Tom's family, the black community, and white supporters as your audience)
2. Inform the audience of the news and details surrounding Tom's death.
3. Within that context, state your concerns for the audience.
4. State what you believe they should do.
5. In explaining your purpose/intention in addressing the crowd, you must find ways to connect with them so that they are moved and ultimately are persuaded by what you are saying.
a. Make a reference to an experience of loss to let them know you understand their pain.
b. Make a reference to another source (ex: poet, writer, document) that gives wisdom/advice to follow.
Both (a) and (b) are means of supporting the objective.

Format Requirements
1. MLA- heading, basic title, spacing
2. Paragraph number is up to you, as long as ideas are organized and all information is included
3. About one page in length
