AVID 12-Per. 2 - Spring Assignments

Now that you are an expert in all things High School, create a brochure with advice for incoming freshman. This brochure should include the following:

Photos of you
Friendship advice
Academic advice
Extracurricular advice/what you were a part of (in school and out of school)
General Tips and final advice you wish someone had told you at the beginning of Freshman year
Finally - How has AVID helped you? 

Make this as creative as possible. Use Canva for templates, and look online for logos (RHS and AVID)


These brochures will be shared and passed on to the Incoming Freshman AVID classes. 


Your legacy continues.. How do you want to be remembered?

Go through the College Landing Plan to make sure you are prepared for the next step in your education career. Most importantly, double check your student portals to make sure you do not have any holds on your account. If you have holds, let me know so we can clear them up together. 


Once you have completed your checklist (Late Spring & Early Summer), 

Download the worksheet using DocHub and write down what each term meant in high school vs. what you think it will mean in college. 
Think about the differences between high school and college for the topics provided. (use your quick write as reference)

Write down your thoughts about each topic and share with your group.

Discuss in a group and create a chart or a spreadsheet to post in the classroom. (use the worksheet)

You may add to the list of topics.

We will read and discuss the article in class. 
Double sided journal and KWL chart to be completed during our reading. 

Please submit two photos of yourself.
The first should be a baby photo including the colleges/universities you were accepted to.
The second, a recent photo/grad photo of you with the school you decided to attend.

If you have not already made an appointment with Ricardo to check-in on your FAFSA, please do so ASAP. The meeting is mandatory and if you do not sign up/attend, it will result in a loss of points. Link for meeting availability is below. 

You will be creating your own recipe for success. You will
create a recipe that you use when achieving your goals. It could include one pinch
hard work, or a cup of determination. Your recipe should include at least ten parts
to it. You then must, on a separate piece of paper create an illustration that
incorporates your recipes. An example of this could be your recipe forming an
outline that is shaped into a pie.

You may work in a group of up to four people, or complete this project individually.

Tuesday will be a TRF day. If you need some help from a college tutor please let me know today so I am Able to make arrangements.

Make sure to complete the Pre-work portion of the TRF before Tuesday.

Please complete the following questions after the Socratic Seminar.
