Welcome to the Physical Education Department!
 
PE 9
Our mission for 9th grade physical education is to empower all students to create and sustain regular physical activity for a lifetime. This physical education class will provide students with a variety of movement experiences that help develop skills, knowledge, and attitudes to become a well-rounded member of society. The curriculum will encompass many different aspects including the development in the social, emotional, recreational, and intellectual areas through the exposure to a wide variety of activities. The class will focus on the important of participation, teamwork, communication, along with providing games and fitness skills to develop a lifelong exerciser. 
 
PE 10
The curriculum will cover a wide variety of movement experiences building up knowledge and experiences taught the year prior. Again, our mission is to empower all students to create and maintain a physical active lifestyle. We will provide students with a variety of movement experiences that help develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes to create this active lifestyle. The curriculum will encompass many different aspects including the development in the social, emotional, recreational, and intellectual areas through the exposure to a wide variety of activities. The class will focus on the important of participation, teamwork, communication, along with providing games and fitness skills to develop a lifelong exerciser. 
 
Weight Training
The course is designed to give students the opportunity to learn weight training concepts and techniques used for obtaining optimal physical fitness. Students will benefit from comprehensive weight training and cardiorespiratory endurance activities. Basic fundamentals of weight training, strength training, aerobic training, and overall fitness training and conditioning will be taught throughout this course. Course includes both lecture and activity sessions. Students will be empowered to make wise choices, meet challenges, and develop positive behaviors in fitness, wellness, and movement activity for a lifetime. This course is for 10th 
 
Dance I
Dance I is an introductory course to the movement fundamentals of a variety of dance styles improving technique, self-confidence, and creative ability. The emphasis of this course is on terminology, technique, history, memorization of movement through movement through performance, and choreography. Throughout this course students will learn; jazz, ballet, modern, hip-hop, lyrical, and world dance. After a warm up each day, students will complete across the floor progressions, and learn new movements. Each unit, students will learn new combinations to music and be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the style of dance. Students will work in group setting to choreograph and dance in class performances. The mission of this dance program is to produce well rounded members of society with an appreciation for the arts. 
 
Dance II
Dance II is an intermediate to proficient level course that students audition for. Its purpose is to build upon prior knowledge, increase one’s body awareness, technique and strength training while demonstrating dance movements. This course will cover a variety of dance genres including; jazz, ballet, hip hop, tap, modern, choreography, and world dance. Through the continued exploration of these dance genres, students will advance their dance vocabulary, and deepen their connection between the physical and emotional components of dance. Self-expression will be a focus as improvisation is introduced and choreography is explored in more detail. One goal of this course is for students to create dance pieces as a means of self-expression and evaluate the product. Throughout the year, the students will prepare for performance opportunities to showcase their work. The mission of this dance program is to produce well rounded members of society with an appreciation for the arts.
