DVM4-Cross-Media Video Production Class
Course Description:
This year-long, project-based course is part of the Design, Visual, and Media Arts Pathway and
immerses students in the creative world of digital storytelling. Blending video production, graphic
design, and animation, students will learn to conceptualize, script, film, design, and edit a wide
range of multimedia content. A key focus of the course includes creating recurring news and
entertainment segments, designed to engage real audiences both on campus and online.
Throughout the year, students will rotate through industry-style roles such as producer, editor,
reporter, designer, animator, and director — simulating a creative studio or media newsroom
environment. They’ll work in collaborative teams, pitch original ideas, build branded segments,
and develop a strong digital portfolio to prepare for careers in media, marketing, film, animation,
or broadcasting.
By the end of the course, students will have produced a variety of professional-grade content,
including short films, animated explainers, promo videos, school news shows, and creative skits,
all while building real-world production, design, and leadership skills.
At the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in industry techniques with a focus on communication, critical thinking, and collaboration in a classroom production environment.
