Assignment
In “The Story of an Hour,” Kate Chopin demonstrates how she is able to write a short story of compressed intensity. Mrs. Mallard is initially told that her husband is killed in a railroad disaster. Within a quick span of time, she goes through many emotions and briefly experiences a sense of freedom before her husband walks through the door.
Your assignment is to write a one-paged short story (typed, single-spaced) in a similar style as Kate Chopin’s story. It should have compressed intensity in it. The subject/focus is your choice, but please make sure that it is appropriate content.
